Verizon has confirmed that a substantial issue is impacting wireless voice and data services.
Many users' mobile devices are displaying "SOS" mode, indicating that standard cellular calls and data are inaccessible. However, emergency calls (911) remain possible through the utilization of other available networks.
National reports peaked at over 175,000 affected users during the midday period, with New York, including the Binghamton area, identified as a key location for reported issues.
Both AT&T and T-Mobile have released statements confirming the normal operation of their respective networks.
Customers on unaffected networks may only experience difficulty when attempting to establish contact with an individual utilizing the Verizon network.
